Imperial Acquires Controlling Interest in Safari Centres
The 4x4 market will have new energy pumped into it with Imperial Holdings Limited's acquisition of the controlling interest in Safari Centres, which now fall under Imperial Automotive Retail.
Safari Centre has eight retail stores and fitment centres round the country, offering one-stop shopping for high quality 4x4 accessories and outdoor equipment. Their highly-skilled employees fit 4x4 accessories professionally in their AA-approved workshops – and all workmanship is backed with a two-year warranty.
The man behind Safari Centre, André de Villiers, retains a shareholding in the business and will continue as managing director. Well-known among the 4x4 fraternity, he hosts the TV show, Safari 4x4 Roete , on Kyknet.
“Safari Centre was established 15 years ago,” says de Villiers, “and I'm proud to say that all our branches have built up really strong support from people passionate about 4x4s, and outdoor enthusiasts who thoroughly enjoy off-road driving and adventure travel. The link with Imperial will certainly open new vistas and widen our scope. For one thing, we'll obviously benefit from Imperial's car dealership referrals and it also offers us synergy and opens up further channels to consumers with other outdoor and leisure industry brands owned by Imperial Automotive Retail.”
Safari Centre is now among the leading outdoor and leisure industry brands, along with Jurgens Ci, Howling Moon, Campworld and Jurgens Trailers. Its eight retail stores and fitment centres – a blend of owned and franchised outlets – can be found in Pretoria - Silverlakes, Menlyn and Centurion, in Durban – Gateway Shopping Centre and in Upington, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Vereeniging. |
